Obituary

David A. Kistner, 80, of Elyria passed away Thursday February 13, 2025 at U.H. Elyria Medical Center.

He was born August 25, 1944 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident.

David worked as a press operator at General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church , was a Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed word find books and spending time with friends at Hazel's Restaurant.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elsie Kay (nee-Wilson); daughters, Terri Simmerman, Jo Ellen Blankenship and Carrie Keener; sons, Mike Sherrill, Larry Harrison Jr., Duane Sherrill and Mark Sherrill; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Kistner.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Harrison, parents, Edward and Mabel Kistner, sister, Betty Kistner and brother, Edward Kistner Jr.

The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday February 19, 2025 in the funeral home.

Rev. Mr. Patrick Humphrey will Officiate.

Burial will follow at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or Fido's Companion Rescue.
