Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved father, David "Dave" Lee Jarvis, 70, of Lagrange, has passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus following a long illness.

Dave was born on January 26, 1955, at home in Braxton County, WV, to Percy and Susan Annie Dobbins Jarvis. Since he was a young boy he loved spending time outdoors. He had a passion for hunting deer and fishing, and always made sure to bring some kind of catch home. He could easily make friends wherever he would go with his handsome smile and warm conversation. It was easy to talk to Dave for hours at a time and you wouldn't even notice time had passed. He enjoyed binge-watching westerns, soap operas and movies, especially when someone else was watching with him. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was a very proud father and grandfather (Papaw).

He moved to Ohio in the 70s and became a laborer at Larsons Foundry in Grafton, OH. Dave had recently retired in 2023 from Castek Aluminum in Elyria, OH after working there for close to 30 years. Dave had always worked hard to provide for his family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We love you so much Papaw!

He is survived by his daughters Virginia Grissom-Prosak (Stephen) of Lagrange, Kara Jarvis (Josh) of Elyria; sisters Mildred Jenkins of Ava, Hazel Gae Frame of WV; brother Bobby Greenlief (Cathy) of Frametown, WV; grandchildren Zachary Grissom (Princelis) of Elyria, Roy Grissom (Miranda) of Brunswick, Joshua Grissom of Lagrange, Melrose Jarvis of Elyria, Xavier Rittenhouse of Elyria, and Tyler Prosak of Lorain.

Preceded in death by his father Percy Jarvis, mother and step-father Susan Annie Greenlief (Robert); siblings Okey Jarvis, Carolyn Jarvis, Harold Jarvis, Vivian Jarvis, Dexter Jarvis, Jerry Jarvis, Damon Jarvis, and Douglas Jarvis.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home of Elyria (440)322-4626. Family will be planning a celebration of life at a later date. If anyone would like to send cards or letters in lieu of flowers, they can be sent to PO Box 62 Lagrange, OH 44050.
