David W. Hawke Sr. 92, of Elyria passed away Saturday March 14, 2015 at LifeCare of Elyria following a short illness. He was born September 5, 1922 in Elyria. David served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of The Midview Hall of Fame for Basketball. David also enjoyed golf, fishing, baseball, gardening, and wintering in Florida. Survivors include a daughter; Ellen M. Kazmierczak (Al) of Elyria, a son; David W. Jr. (Georgene) of LaGrange, a sister; Beaula Mynchenburg (William) of Florida, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years; Mary K. (nee: Keller), his parents; Ellsworth and Ellen (nee: Longbon) Hawke, a sister; Belva Hoskins, and two brothers; Richard and Donald Hawke. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday March 20, 2015 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria, where funeral services will be at 1:00 PM immediately following visitation. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Twp., Ohio where V.F.W.
