Daniel W. Meecha, 82, of Elyria passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday November 21, 2020. Dan was born January 2, 1928 in North Ridgeville and was a Elyria resident for most of his life. A 1956 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, he employed at both Avon Plumbing and Heating and Lucas Plumbing and Heating. He was a veteran of the United States Army and later served in the Honor Guard. Dan was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Local 42 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, the Elyria United polish Club, Past Chairman of Pack 107 Cub Scouts at McKinley School, and past Head Groundskeeper at Little League East. He was a member of the Elyria High School Band Boosters and was a avid Rose Bush Gardener, and fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, as well being a Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always attended his children's and grandchildren's school, sporting and dance events. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Kay; daughter, Michelle (Jeff) McCouneghy; sons, Mark and Robert Meecha; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (George-deceased) Boalls, Marlene (Clyde-deceased) Horner, and Joan (Jim) Payne; He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sheri Meecha, granddaughter, Megan Meecha, sisters, Catherine (LaVerne) Forthover and Loretta (Steve) Stanko and brothers, Al (Jean) Meecha and Victor Meecha. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 17, 2020 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, pastor will be the Celebrant. Facial coverings and Social Distancing is required. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
