Daniel Howard Deeks, 77, of Elyria passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease on Saturday September 30, 2023 while under the care of Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice in Strongsville. He was surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born August 6, 1946 in Cleveland and was a 1965 graduate of North Ridgeville High School. Dan worked as a Class A Fabricator for 46 years. After retirement, he worked at St. Raphael Roman Catholic Church in Bay Village for 5 years. Dan was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He was a long-time member of the Westlake Sportsman Association. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife, gardening, taking his dog Buddy for walks and spending time with his family. Daniel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia "Ginny" (nee-Mitchell); children, Jennifer (Edward) Backos, Daniel (Emily) Deeks and Jill (Joseph) Yusko; grandchildren, Zachary and Julia Backos, Bridge Francis, Mitchell and Lilah Deeks, Joseph (Lindsay) Yusko, Alyssa (Alex) Thompson and Brayden Yusko; great-grandchild, Cade Yusko; brothers, Ray (Jana) Deeks, Walter "Lee" (Maryann) Deeks, Gerard (Elaine) Deeks and Charles (Marjorie) Deeks, and his sister, Rita Hogan. He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Walter and Pearl (nee-Fassinger) Deeks, brother, Joseph Deeks , twin sister, Mary Ann Gibbons; brother-in-law, Robert Gibbons and sister-in-law Rosemary Deeks and many other beloved relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. Monday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St., Grafton, where family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Christian Burial Services will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice, 18659 Drake Rd. Strongsville, OH. 44136.
