Dale E. Helwick, 84, of Avon passed away Thursday November 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 20, 1935 in Canton and was an Elyria resident for 40 years and was an Avon resident for the past 15 years. Dale was a Business Professor at Lorain County Community College for many years, retiring in 1991. He was a longtime member of the Elyria First Congregational United Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling and playing tennis. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joelene (nee-Seese); daughters, Jenny (Tim) Shafer, Julie Grantier and Jill (Jim) Hennessey and 7 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 30, 2019 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Jeff Sweitzer will Officiate. Burial will be private.
