Craig A. Smith, 65, of Brookpark passed away Thursday June 22, 2023 at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights following a sudden illness. He was born September 13, 1957 in South Bend, IN. and was a Lorain County Area resident for most of his life. Craig worked for the Ford Motor Company for 33 years, retiring in January of 2023 as a fork lift driver and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Helena (nee-Critelli); daughters, Memory McElhaney and Dana Caviness; son, Dallas Banks, Derek Smith and Chad Smith; step-son, Zeph Nimon; numerous grandchildren; sister, Pam Smith and brothers, Mike, Daniel and Kevin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Joyce Smith. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria.
