Corliss E. Hurst, (nee-Chewning), 71, of Elyria passed away Saturday April 16, 2016 at Regency Hospital in Cleveland following a long illness. She was born May 10, 1944 in Elkins WV. And was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Corliss formerly works as a nurse's aide at Harborside Health Care in North Royalton. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, knitting and was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball fan. She was the loving mother her daughter, Cynthia (Paul) Grabo; sons, Ricky (Debbie) Jackson, Robert (April) Jackson and Daniel Jackson; loving grandmother of 13. She was preceded in death by a son William, her sisters, Agnes, Jean, Marilyn and Frances "Shorty" and brothers, Rudy Jr., Bill and Bob Chewning. The family will receive friends on Tuesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Wednesday April 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O.
