Cora Campbell (nee: Bratland) 87, (formerly of Elyria) passed away peacefully on Friday May 15, 2015 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange following a long illness. She was born April 16, 1928 in Marshall County, IA. Cora retired as a Deputy Clerk following fifteen years of service with The Elyria Municipal Court. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elyria, where she was active for many years with the free meal program. Cora was truly one of the most loving, sweetest and kindest woman; everyone who met her loved her and enjoyed her great sense of humor. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed walking and loved her ice cream. Cora is survived by two daughters; Lynda Krugman (Terry) of Elyria, Sherry McDowell (Allan) of Spring Hill, FL., two sons; Steve Campbell (Carol) of Savannah, OH, Tim Campbell (Terri) of New London, OH. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister; Darlene Manz (Maurice) of Marshalltown, IA, and her best friend of fifty years who she called her sister; Virginia A. Mercado (the late Dr. P.C. Mercado) of Cape Coral, FL. Cora was preceded in death by her husband of twenty four years; Lt. Myron D. "Pete" Campbell, her parents; Tjerand "Charles" and Valborg (nee: Kalsaby) Bratland, two sisters; Clara Brown, Valtina Bratland, and four brothers; Tommy, Edward, Conrad, and Oscar. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Tuesday May 19, 2015 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626.
