Constance R. "Connie" Hylton (nee: Rowan) 89, of Elyria passed away Thursday February 18, 2016 at The LifeCare Center of Elyria after a lengthy illness. Connie was born August 15, 1926 in Sweet Springs W.V. She worked for more than thirty years at The Kroger Co. of Elyria. She loved spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and taking gambling trips to Las Vegas. Connie was an avid, lifelong Cleveland sports fan. She is survived by six children; a son; Michael Hylton, daughters; Patricia Murner (Ronald), Brenda Hodkey (Joseph), Janice Cox (glen), Susan Szantay (Ronald), Debra McNeely (Richard). Connie was blessed with eleven grandchildren; Barry, Brett, Todd, Kim, Adam, Jeff, Beth, Michael, Adam, Rick, Dan, and very blessed to have fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Hiram "Fred" Hylton, a daughter; Helen Hylton. and her parents; Edward and Minnie Rowan, three brothers; Chesleigh and Alfred Smith, and Andrew Rowan. The family will receive friends at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 on Monday February 22, 2016 from 1:00 PM until time of services at 2:30 PM. The Rev. Brian Burke of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wellington will officiate. Burial will be private immediately following services at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. Connie's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many wonderful people who touched all their lives, and cared for their mother while she resided at The LifeCare Center of Elyria. The care and compassion shown to Connie and her family was truly amazing and deeply appreciated. The family also wanted to thank the staff of Crossroads Hospice who lovingly cared for Connie in her final months of life.
