Clyde Thomas Root 67 of Grafton passed away Sunday November 1, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain following a 6 month battle with brain cancer. He was born November 2, 1947 in Elyria . Clyde was employed by the Midview Board of Education as a teacher for 28 years. He was an Eagle Scout living his life according to the principles of the Eagle scouts , enjoyed soccer, sailing, travel and parks. Clyde was also a member of the LC Soccer in the 1960's that went to state and coached the first Midview Soccer Club and many youth teams with Elyria Parks and Recreations. Tom loved traveling and did much of it on his Catamaran sailboat , TomKat, he also enjoyed adventures such as skydiving and even bungy jumped in New Zealand on his last trip. Clyde and Kathy traveled to and camped in 28 of the 54 National Parks., he was a positive role model for the many students he taught Biology to at Midview High School. He will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends. Survivors include his Wife of 46 years Kathy (nee Hall) , son Adam (Pamela) of Grafton , sisters Beverly (Don) Melton of LaGrange , Betty (Bob) Johnson of Atlanta , Georgia , 1 grandchild Alexandra , sister-in-law Jackie (nee Hayes) of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Esther Root (nee Gibbons) , brother Raymond Scott Root. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at one of the Lorain County Parks he so enjoyed walking in. In lieu of flowers the family suggests those who wish may make donations in Clyde's name to Mercy New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd.
