Clyde L. McConaughey, 79, of Elyria passed away Saturday November 21, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 10, 1936 in Wheeling, WV. And was a Elyria resident since 1965. Clyde worked as a assembler at the General Motors Corp. in both Elyria and Mansfield for 38 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Elyria, a 44 year member of Alcoholic's Anonymous, and enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing his guitar at the former Route 10 Club in Elyria. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Donna (nee-Johns); daughters, Dorothy McConaughey of Washington, Susan Murphy of Pennsylvania, Milisa McConaughey, Brandy McConaughey, and Aubrey Calvert all of Ohio; sons, Tarik Grabowski, Warner McConaughey and Stephen Peck all of Ohio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Jacky Stanford of Texas; best buddy, Aaron Heidrich of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Ethel McConaughey and brothers, Bill and Ralph McConaughey. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Monday November 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Stein, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church will Officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
