Clifford Earl Elbert 81 of Elyria passed away Thursday June 2, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness. He was born July 25 , 1934 in Elyria and was a 1952 graduate of Elyria High School. Clifford worked for Lear Romec for 37 years until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed fishing , hunting , was active with Elyria High School reunion committee , and especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's events. Clifford served his Country in the Marine Corps. during Korea where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Survivors include Longtime partner Ruby Gendics , daughters Vicki of Henderson, Nevada , Terri of Elyria , sons Gary of Scottsdale, Arizona , Gregg of Glenwood Springs , Colorado , 4 grandchildren , sister Eleanore Baun of McMinnville, Oregon , Ruby's 6 children , 9 grandchildren , 15 great-grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Nola (nee Bates) , brother Donald. Family will receive friends 1-4 PM Sunday June 5, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria 440-322-4626 , where services will be held 10 AM Monday June 6, 2016. Rev. Chuck Behrens Chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate.
