Clayton John "Clayt" Walter, 94, of LaGrange Twp. died Thursday July 14, 2011 at his home from complications of heart disease. He was born June 9, 1917 in Valley City where he attended St. Martin's Elementary and Valley City Schools. Clayt was a resident of LaGrange Twp. for seventy years; he was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton. Clayt was employed by Sunshine Farms (Elyria Dairies) for over forty years; and delivered milk products to residences and then to numerous schools and businesses; establishing the first wholesale delivery route for Elyria Dairies. Clayt was an avid Keystone High School sports fan, and enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavs. He pitched for the Elyria Dairies softball team, and was a member of the dairy bowling team for numerous years even long after retirement. Clayt played semi pro fast pitch softball for a Valley City team. He enjoyed farming with his son and was an avid coon hunter and sportsman. Survivors include his daughters; Marsha Sauer, Sheryl Thomas (Michael), and Mary Simonson (Frank) of Wellington, Donna Perhot of Lorain, and Anita Walter of Elyria, sons; Dennis (Jayne), David (Kelly) of Grafton, Thomas (Bobbie), William C., and Richard of Wellington. Additional survivors include sixteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and a sister Pearl of Valley City. Clayt was preceded in death on March 27, 2010 by his loving wife of sixty six years; Frances Naomi (nee: Seabold), his parents; John and Josephine (nee: Deimling) Walter, a sister; Josephine, and brothers; Albert, Clarence, Edward, George, Henry, John, Joseph, Leo, and three grandchildren.
