Clarence Joseph Conrad, age 83, of Penfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on August 2, 2020. The youngest of 7 children and born September 23, 1936 in Sheffield, Ohio to Edith and John Conrad in Sheffield, Ohio. He was married to his high school sweetheart, the late Nancy Todd Conrad for 59 years. Clarence worked as a farmer his entire life. He grew uptruck farming with his mother, father, and siblings in Sheffield, Ohio. He told stories of his childhood driving with his mother to Cleveland to sell vegetables at West Side Market. In 1948, Clarence moved to Penfield,Ohio with his family. With 40 acres and 16 brown swiss cows, Conrad Farms was established. The family farm is now a 4thgeneration dairy,milking 250 Holstein cows on 1200 acres. Clarence was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and attended St Patrick's and St Mary's Churches. He was a 1954 graduate of LaGrange High School. His loves were his family, farming, and sports. Clarence also served his community on numerous boards including Lorain County Farm Bureau, Milk Marketing Board\, and the Lorain County Fair Board. Clarence is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, his parents, Edith and John Conrad; brothers Gerald, Edward, Lawrence; sisters, Beatrice Mack, and Dorothy Diedrick. He is survived by a sister, Mary Jane Malik. 6 children Judy Hogan (Mike), Richard Conrad (Susan), David Conrad (Laurie), Lisa Harris, Mike Conrad (Lois), and Russ Conrad (Angela); 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Clarence has left a legacy of faith, family, service, and love. He will be dearly missed. Viewing will be on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 4-7 pm outdoors at Conrad Farms, 19900 Indian Hollow Road, Grafton, Ohio. Casual attire requested. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday August 6,, 2020 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, Ohio. The Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. (PLEASE MET AT CHURCH) Burial immediately following in Penfield Cemetery, State Route 18, Wellington, Ohio. Lunch Reception at the farm following burial. COVID 19 RULES APPLY.
