Christopher C. Eichenlaub 58, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly Sunday October 9, 2011. Chris was born October 17, 1952 in Detroit. MI. He was a 1970 Elyria High School graduate. Chris was the current Safety Service Director for The City of Elyria, a position he served since 2006. Previously he was the Assistant Safety Service Director for The City of Elyria, and was in charge of Community Development. He started working at 14 years old for Quik-Way Auto Wash in Elyria and in 1983 became the car wash's owner and operator, where Chris made numerous acquaintances. His dedication to the community was exhibited in his many endeavors; he was active in both Midview and Elyria Catholic athletics. Chris served as Treasurer of The Midview Athletic Booster Club, and on The Midview Endowment Board. He took great personal satisfaction in promoting youth sports. Chris will always be remembered as a gifted entrepreneur; his leadership skills were always fair yet firm. His greatest passion was spending time with his family. He enjoyed golf, watching football and basketball. Survivors include his mother; JoAnn Eichenlaub (nee: Cosgrave) of Elyria, two sons; Jordan D. and Cole D. both of Elyria, two daughters; Hannah D. Bender (Jason) of Puyallup, WA and Adrienne D. of Elyria. Additional survivors include a sister; Marsha Price (Ted) of Avon Lake, three brothers; John Jr. (Robin) of Akron, Andrew D. (Rita) of Avon, Matthew J. (Kimberly) of Elyria, and his wife of twenty two years; Lynn Downing of Clearwater Beach, FL. Chris was preceded in death by his father; John L. and a brother; Dick.
