Chester Michael Pleban, 86, of Elyria passed away peacefully Thursday October 19, 2017 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1930 in Lorain, and was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary High School. Chester worked for the United State Post Office in Lorain from April 1, 1950 until October 3, 1986, where he was in supervision the last 8 years was postmaster. After retirement he worked at Lee Furniture and Vermilion power boats. Chester proudly served his Country in the Army from June 1951 to September 1954, his service was during Korea with the 511 Military Intelligence Company. He was a past member of the Lorain Lions club, past president and secretary. Chester enjoyed golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles, playing cards, reading, casinos and all Cleveland sports. He had a great wit and wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include his daughter Ann (James-deceased) Barraco of Columbus; sons Michael (Jayma) of San Diego, CA., Paul (Joyce) of Elyria, Robert (Barbara) of Amherst, James (Beth) of Wellington; sister Mary Ann (Sal) Sofra of Amherst; brother Dan (Joan) of Amherst; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara (nee Cataldo), his parents Michael and Annastasia (nee Drwal). Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626. Closing prayers 9:30 AM Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10AM at St. Jude 590 Poplar Street Elyria, Ohio 44035. Rev. Fr.
