Obituary

Charles A. "Chuck" Steele, 58, of Pompano Beach, Florida formerly of Elyria, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Wednesday, January3, 2018 while out of town working in Key West, Florida. He was born September 18, 1959 in Honolulu, HI. at Tripler Army Hospital Oahu. Chuck attended Elyria High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp in 1976 obtaining his GED. He returned to Elyria after serving in the Corp to start a lifelong career in stone work and concrete cutting. He was a proud member of the Concrete Cutter's Brotherhood Local 1652 out of Pompano Beach, Florida. Chuck was preceded in death by his father Simpson A. "Andy Steele Jr. and several grandparents. Chuck was blessed to have family who loved him on the West and East coasts as well as many friends and loved ones on the Southern coast. Chuck is survived by his wife of 10 years Leann R. Nielsen-Steele of Pompano Beach, FL. formerly of Elyria, OH. his daughters Angela Youkam-Steele, Arrianna (Levaii) Tuialii and their son Saipele (Sy) of Tacoma WA. Also of Tacoma his grandmother Beatrice Gasman, mother Barbara Hayes, sister Dawn (Scot) Walston and their son Taylor and brother Phil Gregory, uncles, nieces and nephews. Step-mother Amity F. "Amy" Steele of South Amherst formerly of Elyria, Simpson A. "Andy" Steele III (Susan) of Elyria, Shawn F. Steele of Brunswick, GA., formerly of Elyria, Adam (Kim) Stone of Avon,OH. and sister Dianna L. (Jeff) Schmidt of South Amherst, formerly of Elyria. Chuck is survived by many nieces, nephews, and loved ones from both families. Chuck was so very well liked and loved by so very many people, too many to list. He embraced life, lived it to the fullest and had 9 lives. As anyone who knew him could attest he really lived. He will be so sorely missed and forever remembered by all his loved ones near and far. You are forever in our hearts. Rest well big brother. Tell pop hello. There will be no public service as it was his wish to be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life, per his wishes, to be announced at a later time to take place in the summer as he would have wanted. Rather than flowers please make a tax deductible donation in his name to the Veteranswhocare.org of Lorain County a non-profit organization dedicated to helping local veterans in need.
