Charles A. Burkey 74 of Elyria passed away on June 15, 2016 due to an automobile accident. He was born April 24, 1942 in Lemont Furnace , Pennsylvania. Charles worked for General Plug in Grafton as an electrician until his retirement in 2001. Charles served his Country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, and was a trustee at Community United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 37 years Patricia (nee Krause) , step-sons Roy (Katie ) Cooper of North Carolina , Jeffrey Cooper of Elyria , 7 grandchildren, his sister Terri Osborn (David) of Brownhelm, Ohio ,and a brother Gilbert of Brunswick , Ohio. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Alyene (nee Yauger) Burkeyand his brother Baron "Bud" Burkey. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held 11 AM Saturday August 6, 2016 at the Community United Methodist Church 680 Abbe Rd. Elyria, Ohio 44035. Pastor Kevin Coleman will officiate.
