Charles A. Brown, 87, of Elyria passed away Thursday August 18, 2016 at UH Elyria Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1928 in Troy, MO., and was an Elyria resident for most of his life. Charlie was employed as a repairman at ALLTEL for 38 years, retiring in 1990. He was a United States Army veteran and enjoyed meeting friends for coffee at McDonalds on Broad St. in Elyria, woodworking, reading and working crossword puzzles. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (William) "Skip" Morse; sons, Lawrence "Butch" (Teresa) Brown and Tim (Joanne) Brown; grandchildren, Amanda, Lindsay, Nick, Grace, Sarah and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and George. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean in 1974 and a sister, Pat Hager. The family will receive friends Friday August 26, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of Hospice of the Western Reserve will Officiate. Burial will be private.
