Charles David Slusher 92, of Elyria passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 9, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Elyria since his birth October 29, 1925. Charles was a 1943 graduate of Elyria High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired as a foreman from York International, but some of his fondest memories were his years working at the former Fitch Company, and later at J.C. Penney where he was well respected and sought after fitting and selling men's suits. Charles loved tending his garden and fishing. He instilled in his family the importance of faith, service, loyalty, kindness, and selflessness. He lived his faith by example; loving well and leaving a legacy to those who survive including his daughters; Janet Levan (Chris) of Alpharetta, GA, Beth Parsons of Longmont, CO, Diane Firestine of Grafton. Additional survivors include a loving niece; Nanette Ladd of Elyria, brothers; Robert of North Ridgeville, Glen (Jan) of Elyria, a sister; Nancy Anderson of Sheffield, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of sixty two years; Genene (nee: Kratt), his parents; Samuel and Eva (nee: Nugent) sisters; Norma, Ivalynn, Helen, Carol, and a son in law; Gary Firestine. Memorial services 1:00 PM Saturday January 20, 2018 at North Eaton Christian Church 39859 Royalton Rd. Grafton. Burial will be private at The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to North Eaton Christian Church or to Mercy New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd. Lorain, OH 44053.
