Catherine T. Arnold, (nee-Sloan), 91, of Elyria and formerly of North Ridgeville passed away Monday April 1, 2013 at the Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin following a brief illness. She was born February 11, 1922 in Glasglow, Scotland and and lived in North Ridgeville for many years, until moving to Elyria 10 years ago. Catherine was employed as a unit secretary at Lorain Community Hospital for 20 years. Prior to that she worked at EMH Regional Medical Center and various long term healthcare facilities. She was a member of the Daughters of Scotland, a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria and enjoyed traveling to Scotland and England to visit relatives. Survivors include her son, James McCaskie of Tampa, FL.; 1 step-son in England; 2 step-daughters in England; niece, Jeanette McCartney of Elyria; nephew, William (Marie) McCartney of Grafton; many other nieces and nephews in the United States, Scotland and England. She was preceded in death by her first husband James McCaskie, second husband, Tom Arnold, daughter, Sheila McCaskie, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of closing prayers at 11:30 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. John Vrana will be the Celebrant.
