Carryn Hester Capers

Carryn H. Capers, 80, died Saturday August 29, 2026 at Western Reserve Hospice in Westlake following a brief illness. Native of Elyria, Ohio, Ms Capers was a dedicated Head Start teacher for over 30 years and served as manager of Riverside Homes Inc. for 20 years.

In addition to her dedication to the education of young children, Ms Capers was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ms Capers loved to cook and was known for her cakes. She was also known for the many personalized, hand written notes and cards sent to friends and relatives. She had a deep love and commitment for her family and friends.

Carryn is survived by her sister, Carolyn Sales, of Elyria and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was; her infant son and her son John Wesley (Robbie) Capers, parents Luanna and Hatton Beard Jr., brothers Carlton, Charles and Curtis Beard and sister Corrine Parks.

Serivces for Ms Capers will be held on September 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 12090 Durkee Road, Grafton, Ohio 44044. Viewing hours will be from 10 to 12 with services immediately following.

The church will host a luncheon following the service.
