Carol Jean Hrivnak ( Weikel), 61, of Elyria passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at her home. She was born October 23, 1960 in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria High School. Carol worked for the Elyria City Schools at Crestwood Elementary where she enjoyed working with all of the staff and children. Carol enjoyed being outdoors, working in her yard, she loved being with family and friends and she loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, Go Bucks! She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where she spent many fun times with her friends. Carol was an amazing, loving and fun Nana to her granddaughter Annabelle. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Nathan) Slanker; granddaughter, Annabelle Slanker; mother Mary Rita (Lyle) Ross; father, Robert (Maureen) Weikel; sisters, Nancy (JC) Tucker, Margo Zatyko, Marie (Kim) Strauss, and Julie Detwiler; brother, Mark Weikel; nieces and nephews, Jenna Tucker, Brittany Matzke (RJ), Julia Zatyko, Amanda Loyer (Jason), Brandon (Selina) King, Gerad Detwiler, and Geramy Detwiler.. Family will receive friends from 4 PM until time of service at 7 PM Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1255 Lowell St. Elyria, Ohio 44035.
