Obituary

Burton J. Bursley, 93, of Elyria passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at his home. He was born August 2, 1929 and was a graduate of Elyria High School. Burton worked for United Airlines as a ramp serviceman for 30 years. He was on the VFW post # 1079 rifle squad, was an avid walker and very much enjoyed his church and family. Burton was a member of VFW post # 1079 and American Legion post # 393 both in Elyria, and a Charter Member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elyria.  He proudly served his Country in the United States Army. Survivors include his daughters, Deanna Powell, Michelle (Joseph) Von Kaenel; sons, William Sr. (Carol), Mark (Janet); grandchildren, William Jr., Sarah, Reed, Brian, Jessica, Teresa, Christian and Noah; great-grandchildren, Steven, Mason and Bohn; sister, Juanita (Marshall) Shreve; brother, William.  He was preceded in death by his wife Arvilla (nee Greer); parents Emil and Olive Bursley (nee Brown); sisters, Shirley Goodman, Linda Walker; brother James; son-in-law, Robert Powell. Family will receive friends from 10AM until time of service at 12 Noon Friday, October 14, 2022 at Redeemer Lutheran Church 295 College Park Dr. Elyria, Ohio 44035. Pastor Laurie Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family suggests those who wish may make donations to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
