Brenda Keenan passed away peacefully on December 14, after a short illness. She was born in Elyria, Ohio, on February 12, 1940. Her parents, Evelyn and Fred Smith were determined that she not share her older sister Diane's birthday, which was February 11! She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Tim) Harmon; granddaughters, Kate (Dane) Petersen and Mary Lynn (Rich) Knotek; great grandson, Cole Petersen; great granddaughter, Taylor (Ben) Burke; great-great granddaughter,  Brynnleigh Burke, and "like" daughters, Amy (Doug) DeLeeuw, Victoria DehMalo, and Pamela Kline; best friend and cousin, Jane Hutson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Evelyn Smith, and sister, Diane (Jim) Borthwick. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Washington Ave. Christian Church 301 Washington Ave. in Elyria. Reverend Nathan A. Russell, Senior Pastor will officiate.
