Bonnie Rae Whitney (nee Riemer) 76 of Elyria passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 at Fairview General Hospital . She was born February 24, 1940 in Amherst. Bonnie worked for Northern Savings & Loan as a teller until retirement. She enjoyed Knitting , crocheting , dogs , gardening and especially her family. Bonnie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria. Survivors include her daughters Ann (Jim) Riegelmayer of Berea , Denise Whitney of Elyria , sons Michael of Grand Forks , N.D. , Daniel (Melinda) of Hilliard , grandchildren Hannah , Emma , Allen , Amy , Adam , Ryan , Zachary , Jake , sisters Loyanne (Jerry) Shinsky of York , Pa., Linda Christensen of Winston Salem, N.C. , brother Glenn of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald in 1991 , parents Otto and Mary (nee Eshelman). Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Wednesday September 21, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, where funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday September 22, 2016. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick pastor of St. Mary Church (Elyria)will officiate.
