Billy Ray Carte 42, of Sheffield Lake passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday May 6, 2020. He was born February 9, 1978 in Amherst. Billy had earned an Associate Degree in Nursing and worked as a medical assistant; he loved music and animals. Survivors include his father; Lyle Ray Carte Jr. of Elyria, an aunt; Carol Balog of Sheffield Lake, a cousin; Michelle Spak (Joe) of Columbus. Billy was preceded in death by his mother; Diane Carte (nee: Quillen), grandparents; Harry and Betty Husk, Lyle Ray Carte Sr, Sadie Ridge, an uncle; James Carte, an aunt; Janet Campbell, and a cousin; Nick Carte. Family will receive friends from 1-4 PM Sunday May 10, 2020 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (per CDC guidelines only ten guests will be permitted into the funeral home at a time, although not required, wearing a face mask is recommended) Funeral services will be private.
