Obituary

Bill G. Erick, 88, of LaGrange passed away Friday March 3, 2023 at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 21, 1934 in Kenton, OH., and was a lifelong area resident. Bill retired from Value City Furniture where he worked as an upholsterer for many years. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene as well as the V.F.W. Post 1079 and AMVETS Post 32. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Cole, Carol Porter, Debby George, Tammy (Jeff) Abahazi and Suzanne Berg; son, Billy Erick; 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, sister, Sharon Arthur and brothers, Jim and Bob Erick and Ben Meddles. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Friday March 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Scott Eastburn of the Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene will Officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
