Beverly J. Leister, (nee-Burke), 81, of Elyria passed away Monday March 19, 2012 at her home following a sudden illness. She was born July 6, 1930 in Elyria and was a Elyria resident for most of her life. Bev worked in the treasurer department for the North Ridgeville School District, retiring in 1991. Prior to that, she worked in the same capacity for the Elyria City Schools. She enjoyed reading and loved her pet cats. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Daniel) Shaw of Elyria; sons, Tom and Michael Leister both of Elyria; grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly; sister, Barbara Gross of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Marian Burke. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp..
