Betty L. Howard (nee Stevanus), 97, of Elyria passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Oneill Healthcare in North Ridgeville following a lengthy illness. She was born December 2, 1925 in Jenners Twp., PA , later moved to Belden,Ohio where she met her husband Virgil and were married for 60 years. She was a member of the Jolly 60's and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and especially her family. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her son Michael (Cathy) Howard, grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Schneck, David (Krystal) Schlager, Lisa (Eddie) Gonzalez and Stephen (Ashton) Howard, great-grandchildren, Kristien Mellinger, Robert Schlager, Anthony Schlager, Aubrey Schneck, Greysen Howard,, Emily Schneck, and Lyncoln Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, daughter, Debbie Schlager; great-grandson, Emerson Gonzalez; sisters, Rita Pigman and Pat Westbrook, brother Twaine Stevanus. Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria , where funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 3, 2023. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery (Elyria).
