Betty R. Fiest, (nee-Pratt), 83, of Elyria passed away Sunday at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a long illness. She was born March 22, 1928 in Wilbur, WV. And was a Elyria resident for most of her life. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elyria where she was active with the women's missionary, nursery and kitchen service. She enjoyed sewing and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Johnny) Thornsbury of Parrish, FL; son, John (Judy) Fiest Jr. of Grafton; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Biliter of Paden City, WV.. She was preceded in death by her husband John Fiest Sr. in 2002, daughter, Kimberly Pasta in 1996, and brothers, Troy, Russell and Homer Pratt. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 440-322-4626.
