Betty Jane Crawford 83, of Canoga Park, CA (formerly of Elyria) passed away Monday March 14, 2011 following a long illness. She was born November 29, 1927 in Elyria. Betty was a 1945 Elyria High School graduate, and had earned a Bachelors degree from The Ohio State University, a Masters degree from Case Western Reserve University; in addition to a major in Education; she also majored in Vocals and French, she was soloist for City of Elyria Messiah, Soloist for Ohio State Symphonic Choir, and was a soloist for Grace Community Church in CA. for twenty five years. Betty had been an elementary school teacher in Ohio and California; retiring following forty years in education. Survivors include a brother; Robert A. Crawford of Elyria, three nieces; Sharon Asbill, Bobbi Conner, Gayle Clark, and four nephews; Clark Crawford, Kirk Crawford, Scott Crawford, Rick Crawford. Private graveside services were held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp. Pastor Darrell Myers of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Elyria officiated.
