Bette I. Surdock, (nee-Nell), 84, of Elyria passed away Friday June 1, 2018 at her home. She was born June 25, 1933 in Homerville Township and was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Bette worked as a mixologist at the former Graystone Hotel, McGarvey's Restaurant and the Hilltop House. She was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria and a former board member of the Lorain County Animal Protective League. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Mota and Becky Baker; sons, William, Dennis, James and Larry Beal; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Blatter. She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1996. The family will receive friends Tuesday 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 6, 2018 in the funeral home. The Rev. John P. Seabold will Officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
