Obituary

Bertha D. Carson-Stewart, (nee-Colbow), 91, of Loudonville and formerly of Eaton Township passed away Monday February 27, 2017 at the Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville following a brief illness. She was born July 8, 1925 in Montville, OH. And was an Eaton Township resident since 1971. Bertha worked as an assembler at the General Motors Parma plant for 12 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Grafton and enjoyed reading and gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Margaret "Nancy" Dossa; sons, John (Bobbi) Manchak, Michael (Barb) Colbow and Joe (Cheryl Dossa; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Sophie Graham. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Francis "Frank" Carson and George Stewart, sisters, Clara Ziska and Lydia McNaughton, and brothers, Arthur, George and James Colbow. The family will receive friends on Friday March 3, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Bertha's son, Joe Dossa of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church will Officiate. Private burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the dondonor's choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com.
