Benjamin J. Smith Jr., 81, of Elyria passed away Monday February 21, 2022 at his home following a brief illness. He was born July 1, 1940 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Ben worked at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain for many years, retiring as a supervisor. He also enjoyed bowling. Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Smith and Deanna Smith; sons, Benny (Terri) Smith and Billy Smith; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Walker and Carolyn McMoy; brother, John Smith. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers. The family will receive friends on Friday February 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
