Barbara Knapp (nee Gimben), 91, of Elyria passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, January 4, 2019 at Wesleyan Village in Elyria. She was born November 3, 1927 in Pittsfield. Barbara started school in a 1 room school house, later transferred to Oberlin Schools and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1945, which is now Keystone High School. She began her legal career with a private attorney, then she worked for Baird & Alexander for 4 years, after which she went to work for the County Prosecutor's office , then she transferred to Common Pleas court with Judge Mikus. Barbara went to private law firms and returned to Common Pleas court with Judge Adrian Betleski and Lynette McGough. She was active in P.T.A., cub scouts, boy scouts, little league. Barbara was a member of Lorain County Legal Secretaries , American Legion Auxillary where she was Secretary and President. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, knitting making many afghans for family and friends, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her sons Gary (Lori) of Guam, David (Carolyn) of Elyria; grandchildren Shannon (Brad) Kopp, Ryan Knapp (Kate Keller) ,. Griffin (Kristin) Knapp; great-grandchildren Landon Kopp, Scarlett and Juliette Knapp. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Wayne Knapp; sons James, Ron, stillborn son; sister Victoria Sheldon; brothers John Jr., Mike, Nick, George. There will be no visitation or services. Burial Private. In lieu of flowers family suggests those who wish may make donations to the charity of their choice.
