Barbara Jean Herberger (nee: Dunklau) age 81, died peacefully on May 17, 2013 at her home at Abbewood, after a long struggle with the neurological disease PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). Barbara was born on July 11, 1931, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of George and Mary Dunklau. Barbara enjoyed expressing her artistic talent through sewing, knitting, needlework, and most recently quilting. She pursued her sewing and needlework through her children's hand smocked clothing line, Children Classics. She was also actively involved in the Methodist Quilting Group. Barbara thoroughly enjoyed the game of bridge, whether it was with family or friends, she had played since High School. She was an avid reader belonging to two book clubs, The 95 Club and a local group in Wellington, OH. Barbara volunteered for the Lorain County Dental Auxiliary, bringing dental education into schools. Barbara was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria, Ohio. In 1954 Barbara married the love of her life, the late Dr. Robert J. Herberger. Upon his completion of Orthodontics school they moved to Elyria, Ohio. Barbara was a loving and kind Mother and homemaker to their seven children. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Herberger, sister Mary (late Kenneth) Fitzgerald, brothers Gerald (late Marion) and James (late Ann) Dunklau, brother in law Thomas (Brother Alban) Herberger, and sister-in-law Judith Herberger. Barbara is survived by her children Ruthann (Eric) Volcheff, Margaret (Kevin) Hluch, Thomas (Joanie) Herberger, Michael (Eva) Herberger, Ellen (Stuart) Saddler, Laura (Aldo) Goilo, and Ann (Peter) O'Connor. Her grandchildren Lauren and Jenna Volcheff; Kendra Chong and Mathew Hluch; Abby and Cory Herberger; Batu Kavabulut; Sarah, Stephen, Michael and Natalie Saddler; Emma, Jack and Sam Goilo; Claire, Peter, and Jack O'Connor.
