Barbara L. Elek, (nee-Schroeder), 65, of Elyria passed away Thursday January 25, 2018 at UH Elyria Medical Center following a long illness. She was born October 10, 1952 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Barb was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Elyria United Polish Club Auxilliary and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Stephen "Pete" Elek; daughters, Christina (Edward) Page, Stephanie Johnston and Sarah (Bob) Smith; 6 grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Gribben; brother, Leroy Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Barbara Schroeder and a sister, Nancy Kahl. The family will receive friends Tuesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday January 31, 2018 in the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church will Officiate.
