Obituary

Anthony "Tony" John Logar, 88, of Penfield Township passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born January 22, 1933 to Anthony A. and Anna (Stembal) Logar. Tony grew up in Lorain, Ohio and was a 1950 graduate of Clearview High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Tony began his career on July 16, 1962, as a patrolman with the City of Elyria, was promoted to Sergeant in 1973b and Lieutenant in April 1978. He also served as President of Lodge 30 of the Fraternal Order of Police during the 1970's. Tony was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Olmsted Falls in 1981 and retired in 1987. Tony and his wife Pauline moved and lived in Roswell, NM for the following 15 years where he served as the City Maintenance Supervisor. The couple returned to Ohio in 2003 to be near their family. In 1979, he became the first officer from the Elyria Police Department to be chosen to attend the Police Administration and Management Training Program at the Traffic Institute at Northwestern University. Tony earned an Associate degree in Police Science from Lorain County Community College and a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration at Dyke College in Cleveland, Ohio. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family (including his pet "Sonny Boy", being the best papa he could be, playing cards, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and Harley-Davidson Enthusiast. He purchase his first Harley, a 1935 Flathead VL, when he was 15 years old and continued to ride for 70 plus years. Survivors include his son, Arthur Woodrum (Marce) of Tucson, AZ, daughters, Pamela Curtiss and Debbie (Steve) Lumadue of Elyria, Ohio; son, Steve Logar of O'Fallon, MO; son Jeffrey (Heather) Curtiss & great-granddaughter Alyssa Curtiss, all of Elyria, Ohio. Grandchildren Laurie and Bethel Woodrum of Tucson, AZ; Laura (Brent) Twining, Steven (Stacy) Lumadue of Elyria and Great grandchildren Allison and Ethan Twining of Elyria, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years Pauline E. Logar; son Michael Logar, grandson Michael Lumadue and granddaughter Angela Woodrum, his sister Lucy Miller and parents.
