Amity F. "Amy" Steele (nee Fountain), 79, of S. Amherst passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the home of her daughter following a lengthy illness. She was born September 27, 1941 in Vischer's Ferry, NY. Amy graduated high school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1959 to 1961. She was honorably discharged and moved to Elyria Ohio where she raised 4 children. She went to L.C.C.C. and graduated in 1979 with her associates in nursing which she continued in the field before retiring in 2008. She was a big fan of and loved watching the Cleveland Indians. Survivors include her daughter, Dianna (Jeff) Schmidt; son, Simpson A. "Andy" Steele III (Susan); son, Shawn Steele, brother, Lee (Mary Lou) Fountain. She had 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis "Frank" and Alma Fountain (nee Wolfe); and her step-son Charles "Chuck" Steele. There will be no service held. A celebration of life will be on September 25, 2021 from 3 pm to 8 pm at the home of her daughter and son in law.
