Alice E. Hemphill, (nee-Fox), 67, of Pittsfield passed away Wednesday March 26, 2014 at her sister's home following a brief battle with cancer. She was born May 29, 1946 in Cleveland and was a Pittsfield resident for most of her life. Alice was a Registered Nurse for 42 years, and worked as a detox nurse in Serenity Hall at St. John Westshore Hospital in Westlake for 25 years, following that she worked at EMH Regional Health Care for 7 years, retiring in 2013. She was a 1965 Oberlin High School graduate and enjoyed traveling the world, including trips to Italy, Spain, France, England and Ireland. She also enjoyed enjoyed attending weekly bible study classes at the Church of the Open Door, being outdoors and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Ashley Fox of Pittsfield; granddaughter, Sutton Fox; sister, Audrey Weaver of Elyria; brother, William (Linda) Fox of Oberlin. She was preceded in death by a son, David Bruner Jr. in 1994, her parents, Wilfred and Mabel Fox and brothers, Ralph and Edward Fox. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 322-4626. Services will be Monday March 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Troy Smith will Officiate. Burial will be at Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield Twp.
