Alberta R. "Bertie" Johnson (nee: Plas) 81, of Vermilion (formerly of North Ridgeville) passed away at home on Thursday April 18, 2013 following a long illness. She was born October 8, 1931 in Fairview Park, Ohio. Bertie was a 1949 North Ridgeville High School and was co-valedictorian of her class. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Vermilion and former member of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville for many years prior to moving to Vermilion. Bertie treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed gardening and travel. Survivors include her husband of sixty one years; C. Keith Johnson, a daughter; Kathleen Townsend (Ramon) of Georgia, two sons; Denny Johnson(Debra) of North Ridgeville, David Johnson (Theresa) of Michigan, additional survivors include three granddaughters; Jennifer of Elyria, Stephanie of Toledo, Erika of Michigan, five great grandchildren, and a brother; John Hugo Plas (Joanne) of Wellington. She was preceded in death by her parents; Hugo and Ruth (nee: Spencer) Plas.
