Obituary for William F. Burns

William F. Burns, 84, of Wellington, OH, passed away on May 27th from heart failure after a recent surgery. William was born on April 11, 1936 to Jack and Mae (nee Minney) Burns in Braxton Co. W.VA. He began his career in life by serving 3 years in the U.S. Army, and then as an auxiliary police officer. He worked for Thew Shovel in Lorain, as a crane builder and was a retired auto worker after a career at Ford Motor Co. in Avon, OH. In 1960, he married Joy Josephine (nee Dobbins) and went on to have four children, Cheryl, Carl, Robert (Jason) and Carol. After retiring in 1994, William enjoyed visiting flea markets and finding projects to repair. These projects, once restored, somehow usually found themselves donated to someone who needed them. William was well known for his wisdom and problem solving ability. His help was offered to many, and loved and appreciated by all. William loved rooting for the Indians, and spoiling his 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as much as possible. William is preceded in death by his parents; his step mother, Mae (Duelley) and his sister Norma. He is survived by his wife, Joy Josephine; his 2 brothers and 7 sisters; his four children; his 7 grandchildren , and 15 great grandchildren and special cousin Sandra Williams. In keeping with his wishes, William will be cremated and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Spencer, OH., C/O 21720 Foster Rd. Wellington, OH. 44090. Arrangements are entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria, 440-322-4626
