Tom L. Houghtland, 68, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 1, 2021 at U. H. Elyria Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1952 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Tom worked for the City of Elyria for 30 years, retiring in 2006 from the Wastewater Pollution Control Plant. He was also self-employed as the owner of a cleaning business, cleaning the offices of the Center for Orthopedics and also Dr. Rodney Link, among others. Tom enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, but most of all was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Cathy (nee-Kish); son, Matt Houghtland; granddaughters, Briana and Eleana; great-grandson, Jaxson; sisters, Nancy, Pam, Judy and Tammy; brother, Ronnie and feline companions, Max and Milo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edna, sisters, Patricia and Donna, brother, John and feline companion Sam. All services and burial will be private. The Rev. John P. Seabold, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton will Officiate.
