Obituary for Thomas E. "Tom" Swiger

Thomas E. "Tom" Swiger, 75, of LaGrange passed away Tuesday November 12, 2013 at his home following a long illness. He was born July 18, 1938 in Clarksburg, WV. And was a lifelong Lorain County resident. Tom worked as a rolloff driver for Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI), retiring in 2000. He was very proud of the fact that he received his GED Certificate from the Lorain County Joint Vocational School in 2011. Tom was a member of the Teamsters Local 571 and enjoyed reading, working puzzles and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Jeannine, (nee-Coghlan); daughters, Tina (Robert) Hardman of Wellington, Lisa Michell of Elyria and Danielle Swiger of LaGrange; grandchildren, Jimmy, Crystal and Raven; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Wagner of Grafton and Carolle Wottring of Sharpsburg, GA.. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Wangerien, Shirley Jantz and Ramona Williams, and a brother, Phillip Swiger. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 17, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Hinkson-Hysell V.F.W. Post 3341 783 Huron St., Grafton for a Celebration of Toms Life. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd. Lorain, OH. 44053. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd..
