Obituary for Thomas C. Pitts

Thomas C. Pitts 81 of Elyria passed away Sunday November 30,2014 at Elm Croft Nursing Home in Lorain following brief illness. He was born March 29, 1933 in North Ridgeville. He was a graduate of Elyria High School. Thomas worked for Elyria High School and Lorain County Joint Vocational School as an Auto Mechanic Instructor. Thomas served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of VFW post # 1079 and United Polish Club of Elyria. He enjoyed Bowling, Golfing and watching the Cleveland Indians. Survivors include daughter Tracey (Shawn) Mahon of Callahan, Florida , sons Michael (Wendy) of Amherst , Tim (Michelle) of Stow, sister Betty Eberling of LaGrange, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann (nee Moehle), parents Charles and Olga (nee Sheak) , sisters Arlene Krucinski , Clara Jane Linden , Olga Diedrick , and Dorothy Boreski. Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Friday December 5, 2014 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria, 440-322-4626 , Closing Prayers will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday December 6, 2014 in the funeral home , followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Avenue Elyria. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick will be the Celebrant. Burial St. Mary Cemetery (Elyria), where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 1079.Family suggests those who wish may make contributions in Thomas's name to Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Avenue Cleveland, Ohio 44110 or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
