Obituary for Suzanne Jane Vajentic

Suzanne J. (nee-Laube), Vajentic, 84, of Elyria passed away Monday December 21, 2020 at GreenBrier Health Center in Parma Heights following a fall and complications of the COVID virus. She was born June 11, 1936 in Findlay, OH. And the youngest daughter of nine to Norbert and Nora (Dindell) Laube. On September 27, 1958, she married her “boyfriend” Joseph Vajentic at St. Michaels Church in Findlay. Sue was a daughter, sister, mother, daughter-in-law, aunt cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to many. Sue went to Mary Manse College in Toledo and was a dental assistant for dentists and periodontists. Sue treasured her Catholic faith and was extremely involved in her parish, St. Mary Parish in Elyria. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Abbewood and for homebound parishioners, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, trained altar servers, and decorated the church for holidays. She volunteered for numerous positions at St. Mary School where her six children attended. She was a member of the Elyria Women’s Club and volunteered at Elyria memorial Hospital for years. Sue was an accomplished seamstress, home decorator, cake decorator enjoyed musicals singing and loved playing bridge and golf. Sue was deeply devoted to Joseph, her husband, (to whom she was affectionately known as Dreamy) and treasured time with her seven children, grandchildren and great-great granddaughter. She had an incredibly generous and kind heart. Sue believed in always taking a gift to a host and acknowledging a gift and thoughtfulness with a hand written note. She especially wanted to be remembered as a good mother, which she far exceeded. She is survived by her children, Andrew (Michele, deceased 2003, Nora (Kevin )Conner, Amy (Terrence) Butler, Elizabeth (Andy) Woconish, Jennifer (Britt) Maras and Michael Vajentic (Elizabeth Aguirre); grandchildren, James (Lindsey) and Patrick Butler, Elly Maras, Lauren Vajentic, Avalon Woconish, Dominica Conner, Kaitlin Conner (Josh Thom); great-granddaughter, Lemmon Dorene, sisters, Marianne Marquette and twin brother, Robert Laube. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Nora, brothers, Norbert (Bud), Tom, Jerry, John, Jim, sister, Dorothy, husband Joseph, son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Michele. A Mass of Christian burial on Thursday December 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. will be Celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick,pastor at St. Mary Church, Elyria and attended by immediate family only.
