Obituary for Sally Ann Hildebrandt

Sally Ann Hildebrandt, (nee-Skok), 82 passed away Thursday May 27, 2021 at her home following a brief illness. She was born May 17, 1939 in Elyria and was a Carlisle Township resident since 1960. Sally was a 1957 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. She was employed from 1957 until 1966 by the Elyria Credit Bureau Incorporated as a supervisor. From 1983 until 1996 she was employed by Carlisle Township as a Zoning Secretary and assistant to then Clerk of the Township, Elizabeth C. Blair. In 1991 she was elected Clerk of Carlisle Twp., a position she held until April of 1996. For 25 years, she was often referred to as “the Chief’s wife” and was active with the Carlisle Twp. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Sally was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton. She previously was a member of Holy Cross Church in Elyria for 60 years and was active in the church choir, Ladies Guild and the Altar and Rosary Society, of which she served as a former President and Treasurer. She also served as Chairperson of Parish Life Commission and was a Eucharistic Minister. She organized many successful rummage sales and the Pancake Breakfast at the Church. Mrs. Hildebrandt was an avid bowler, receiving many trophies throughout her bowling years. She served as secretary of the Bowlerettes League. In 1991, she was awarded Secretary of the Year by the Elyria Bowling Association and in 1996 was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the E.W.B.A.. Sally has been a member of the Elyria United Polish Club Ladies Auxiliary since 1960. Starting in 1968, she was an officer of the Auxiliary for a total of 48 years, holding the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, President and Financial Secretary. She was selected as Mother of the year by the U.P.C. in 1985. In 1999, she was honored by the club with a Roast. For the past four years, Sally has been the Recording Secretary for the Carlisle Twp. Veterans Memorial. She was a lifetime member of the Carlisle Twp. V.F.W. Post 6273. Survivors include her husband of nearly 62 years, Raymond; daughters, Michelle (David) Dolensky of Mantua and Monica (Joel) Denowski of Akron. “Lolly” Sally was adored by her grandsons, Logan Christopher and Owen Ray Denowski. Sisters-in-Laws Ruth Sayles (William, deceased) and Patricia (Larry) Krischer and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Alexandra Skok; sisters, Elizabeth (Walter) Dzieniszewski, Florence (Anthony) Grzenda, Jeanne (Ray) Walend and Sophie (Bernard) McArtor and brothers, Mathew and John (Jan) Skok as well as brother-in law Richard (Ruth) Hildebrandt. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Tuesday June 15, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Christian Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Private burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Twp. Veterans Memorial, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Friends of Camp Christopher or Elyria Catholic High School. Online condolences may be expressed at
