Obituary for Gwendolyn L. Boecker

Gwendolyn L. "Gwen" Boecker, (nee-Smith), 83, of Elyria passed away Friday August 28, 2015 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville following a long illness. She was born May 7, 1932 in Lorain and was a lifelong Lorain/Elyria area resident. Gwen worked as a Public Service Registered Nurse for many years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elyria and was a graduate of Bowling Green State University and also the St. Luke's School of Nursing in Cleveland. She enjoyed traveling, creating stainglass and reading. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Karl Heinz "Karl"; daughters, Deborah (Steve) McCarter of Glenside, PA., and Dana Vandersommers of Wadsworth: sons, Gene (Jan) Boecker of Lake St. Louis, MO., Ralph (Karen) Boecker of Baltimore, MD., and Randy (Donna) Boecker of Easton, PA.; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Karl B. Smith Jr.. The family will receive friends on Monday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church 295 College Park Dr., Elyria. The Rev. William Burkett will Officiate. Burial will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Memorial contributions can be made to the church or the Alzhiemer's Assc. P.O. Box 74924 Cleveland, OH. 44194-4924.
